Standardized designation for monoclonal antibodies that react with cell surface antigens. Currently, >125 CD numbers exist. The surface antigen expression of neoplastic cells is determined by reacting the cells with a panel of monoclonal antibodies. Analysis using a flow cytometer is often undertaken for determining the blast lineage in acute leukemia, and determining the immunophenotype of chronic leukemia and lymphoma.
