This low power view of the bone marrow aspirate shows a hypercellular marrow which is monomorphous, composed of sheets of blasts. This finding illustrates that in most patients with acute leukemia, normal hematopoietic precursors are nearly absent, with resultant anemia, granulocytopenia and thrombocytopenia.
