Intralobular ducts and striated ducts differ primarily in their location. Striated ducts are lined by simple cuboidal/columnar epithelium and are located in the parotid and submandibular glands. They have basal infoldings of the plasma membranes which give it a striated appearance. In addition, the nuclei of the epithelial cells tend to be centrally located. The intralobular duct is present in the sublingual gland and does not display the basolateral plasma membrane infoldings.
