Truncus arteriosus

Congenital malformation in which the pulmonary artery and aorta are not separated one from another but form a common vessel. Also known as persistent truncus arteriosus, referring to the fact that in early embryonic life the aorta and the pulmonary artery from a common truncus, which subsequently separates and forms two distinct arteries.
