There are two types of pulmonary sequestration: - Extralobar sequestration ( congenital anomaly) is a mass of lung tissue that is not connected to the bronchial system and is located outside of the visceral pleura;
- Intralobar sequestration (probably an acquired lesion) is a mass of lung tissue within the visceral pleura, not connected to the bronchial tree.
