ICAM-1

Chapter: 2
Intercellular adhesion molecule-1 is a member of the adhesion molecule (see separately) family that is related to the immunoglobulins. It is up-regulated on the surfaces of mediator-stimulated endothelial cells. It, therefore, is important in the process of recruiting leukocytes, which have receptors for ICAM-1 on their surfaces, to sites of inflammation.
