Characterized by the simultaneous appearance of proliferative rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis and diffuse alveolar hemorrhage. It is caused by a circulating cytotoxic autoantibody to a component of basement membrane. This disease typically occurs in young men and is treated by administration of corticosteroids, cytotoxic drugs, and plasmaphoresis.
