The normal lung at autopsy has a pink color and is well-aerated, whereas a congested lung is red-brown, heavy, and often exhibits pulmonary edema and sub-crepitance (crepitant means you can feel little pockets of air when you squeeze the lung, sub-crepitant means those little pockets are full of fluid).
