Dermatomyositis, skeletal muscle

Dermatomyositis, as the name implies, can involve both the skin and skeletal muscle. Symptoms include rash, and severe myalgia (skeletal pain) and weakness. The inflammatory change within a skeletal muscle bundle is evident. If untreated, the inflammation can lead to muscle atrophy.
