Astrocytoma of the pons ("brain stem glioma"). This is a diffusely growing, inoperable tumor of young people, causing the gross impression of hypertrophy rather than neoplasia of the pons. For orientation, the severed spinal cord is at the bottom middle of the slide. The basilar artery is stretched by the neoplasm.
