Dense bone trabecula in Paget disease, non-decalcified microscopy. The bone trabeculae show marked irregular thickening, partially obliterating the marrow space. There is also a mild increase in osteoid due to up-regulated osteoblastic activity. The serum alkaline phosphatase is usually elevated in Pagets as a reflection of increased osteoblastic activity.
