Idiopathic thrombocytopenia purpura, petechiae

A person with idiopathic (immune) thrombocytopenia purpura has petechia on the tongue and palate. Petechiae are small pin-point hemorrhages of small capillaries in the skin or mucosa, and are seen primarily in defects of platelet plug formation.
