At the internal orifice of the urinary bladder, one can see the median bar of the prostate which protrudes into the lumen like a ball valve. The urinary bladder shows prominent trabeculation reflecting hypertrophy and hyperplasia of smooth muscle cells in its wall secondary to urinary obstruction.
