At the conclusion of this unit, the student will be able to:

- Discuss risk factors for the development of lung cancer, know the age and sex distribution.
- List which lung tumors are central or peripheral in location, and which lung tumors are most closely associated with smoking.
- Describe the gross and microscopic features of the more common lung tumors, to include: squamous cell carcinoma, adenocarcinoma, bronchiolo-alveolar carcinoma, small cell carcinoma, large cell carcinoma and carcinoid tumors.
