Acute bronchopneumonia

Acute bronchopneumonia, caused by bacterial invasion of lung parenchyma, is characterized by patchy consolidation of the lung. It usually represents an extension of pre-existing bronchitis or bronchiolitis, and thus consists of scattered foci of consolidation in the same or several lobes of lung.
