Dacron prosthesis of the aorta

This patient died two years after the replacement of an abdominal aortic aneurysm. The aorta above the kidneys shows marked artherosclerosis. Just below the level of the renal arteries, the aorta is anastomosed to an artificial blood vessel made up of dacron (synthetic vascular graft.)
