This muscle biopsy consists predominantly of normal cells. The injured cell is in the center of the field. In contrast to the polygonal shape of normal cross-sectioned muscle fibers, the injured cell appears round which have nuclei in peripheral subplasmalemmal location, the injured cell appears rounded and has centrally located nuclei. The nuclei and the cell membrane are intact indicating that this injury is not irreversible.
