The bilateral cystic hygromas in this fetus with Turner's syndrome are prominent. Sometimes, babies that survive are found to be "mosaics" in which part of their cells have the chromosomal abnormality and the other part do not. This can explain survival, as well as milder phenotypic features of the disease.
